The Local Plan has reached an important stage and Harborough District Council is inviting representations from the public until 3rd November 2017.
Two key areas of housing (strategic development areas) are proposed – one East of Lutterworth (1500 houses) and Scraptoft North (1200 houses) on the site of Scraptoft golf course. This replaced a previously proposed site for an SDA east of Station Lane. If approved, no further housing sites are proposed in Scraptoft, Thurnby and Bushby in addition to sites which already have planning permission.
A new area of Green Wedge is proposed to the east of Station Lane along with the retention of the existing green wedges except the land to the north of Scraptoft which would be allocated for housing and accompanying open space and infrastructure to serve the SDA.
To facilitate the strategic development area the Council is also proposing to remove the status of the field to the rear of Hall Road as a Local Nature Reserve. A “green corridor” of about 100 metres would be retained and improved to provide a Local Wildlife Site.
You can learn more about these proposals by attending the drop-in event being run by HDC on Saturday or you can view and comment on the Local Plan on the council’s website at www.harborough.gov.uk/local-plan
